DISTANCE
One lap is almost 4 miles
****
DIFFICULTY
Tight and Twisty = Not so easy
****
RIDE TYPE
Mickey Mouse roller-coaster type trail. Very tight singletrack with lots of
turns, trees, drop-ins and climbs. One way (counter-clockwise) multi-use trail.
****
WHEN TO RIDE
Only when the trail is dry. The infamous red dirt will bog down your bike when you
ride too soon after rain. You'll also damage the trail by leaving deep ruts.
This trail requires 2 days to dry!

11/02/02 - The dredging project has been finished and we have a complete loop again. We have lost a short section that crossed a field. Instead we now have a new trail that runs around it and ties into the Enchanted forrest.
The Lake Hefner trail system, also called Bluff Creek
Trail, is a little more than 3½ miles of single track. The
parking lot is just inside the new gate at "Pat" Murphy
Park and is located on the northwest corner of Hefner
and Meridian, 1½ miles west of Lake Hefner Parkway.
Please try not to park at the paved lot to the south.
This parking lot is for the general public. The trailhead
has been recently moved to the front of the park, just
west of the main gate.. The trail system is a single loop
so you can’t get lost. There are lots of tight turns around
trees and a number of technical sections (drops, jumps, etc). There is
also a dirt road looping the area and crossing the trail in
several spots. This trail system was reopened due to
the efforts of the Oklahoma Earthbike Fellowship. The
OEF also currently maintains the trail. Please note that this
is a multi-use trail, we share it with hikers. Be cautious when
riding fast and courteous when meeting other trail users!

This trail probably sees the most (ab)use of all metro area trails. It sees so much
trafic that OEF has a hard time keeping this trail in decent shape (so the city doesn't
through a fit). A large number of riders that use this trail either are not familiar with the impact of mtb'ing (especially
when the trails are wet) or simply don't care and ride whenever they see fit. If the
trail looks bad it's because of people riding to soon after rain, when the trail is
still too wet. OEF can't officially close the trail to prevent abuse, but we do keep
wondering how much fun it is to keep tearing up Bluff Creek AND your bike...
