OEF Workday @ Roman Nose State Park 04/01/2006

This past Saturday, April 1st, (no foolin') we hosted a workday at Roman Nose. Our objective was to put a reroute in place for a section of trail that was badly eroded and often held water for extended periods of time. It was one of two sections of trail at Roman Nose that the Parks Dept. had asked us to replace in the near future. Due to timing issues, we had to reschedule the original workday to last weekend, which ended up in conflict with a local endurance race. Despite the low number of workday attendees, much was accomplished. Nine hearty souls put in a long 6 hours of work to construct some 850+ feet of new trail. A large portion of the new trail consisted of bench cut and a major amount of dirt was moved to get across a wash. The new section of trail was brought on line and the old, badly rutted section was removed.. A future workday will be scheduled to reroute the other section in the coming months. Thanks to the following individuals for going above and beyond to get this accomplished:

Shane Jones
Marcel Slootheer
Steve Ancik
James Perry
Pete Singleton
Don Halverson
James Daniels
Tammie Daniels

Also thanks to the recovering Charles Duke for his assistance in the trail design!
