OEF Trails Operations & Management OEF Workday @ Roman Nose State Park 04/30/2005We had 20 people show up for the Roman Nose workday this Saturday. I cannot recall the last time we had such an awesome turn out for a workday at this trail almost an hour and half away from OKC. Maybe the great weather, the riding afterwards or the pay-dirt points inspired people to make the drive out there? We started shortly after 9 AM and within 3 hours we had finished the approximate 1400 ft of new trail – a bypass around what is known as Colton's Corner. A new drop-in with a long bench-cut serves as a slightly easier but in our opinion more fun way around the fall line section that is getting harder and harder to `maintain'. Colton's Corner remains open we but recommend that you try out the new section and help pack it down. The entrance is quite loose due to the soil and the bench-cut is still bumpy but there is good flow and we figure that riding it and maybe some rain will compact the new section quickly. We probably want to make some changes to the turns at the end of the new section since they appear to be a little too tight and the last turn is temporary; we'll make final corrections when we start with phase 2 later this year. I want to thank the following dedicated individuals for making this workday a success:
Glenn Burton And thank you Shane, Ward and Terry for bringing the tools, water & beer!
