April 2005 - New-Mexico/Nevada/Utah/Arizona tripRiders: TJ, Ward, Charles, Steve, James, Marcel Pics by: Steve Ancik/James Perry/Marcel Slootheer © OEF 2005 Ride 4 - Bear-Claw-Poppy Trail, St. George, UtahToo much time in the swimming pool… that was the conclusion at the end of this day. We took our time getting up, drove from Las Vegas NV to St. George UT, spent some time at a local bike shop asking for the good rides and then checked into our hotel. It had a nice pool and hot tub. The plan was to ride the Bear-Claw-Poppy trail in the evening. It’s a 3 mile downhill with awesome flow, tons of jumps, banked turns and a few steep shoots. Once on the bike there really was no stopping for pics, it was simply too much fun and would have messed with the flow. Regrets of not taking photo’s of riders in the air were replaced with irritation when we were running out of time while shuttling our bodies & bikes back to the start for the second run. By the time we finished our ride it was dark but not enough to ‘hide’ the smiles on our faces. This would have been serious fun with lights but they weren’t charged. So next time you find yourselves in a swimming pool in the middle of the afternoon keep an eye on the time or else your ride will be too darn short… Marcel.
